[An extract from my Facebook post]
When we listen to what Rajendra Mahato, Upendra Yadav, Anil Kumar Jha, PrashantJha kind of people, one thing becomes evident- they are more comfortable with India than with Nepal. They have repeatedly expressed their hatred to Nepal and Nepali-ness in public. Not only that, they have also pronounced slogans of separatism time to time.
On the other hand, we have people like Ram Baran Yadav, Bijay Gachhedar (and many more) who speak responsibly and act responsibly. In our senate, we have hundreds of representatives from Tarai who are sincerely working to strengthen the ties between and among the people of Himal, Pahad, and Madesh. I am quite sure that they can’t tolerate foreign intervention in our internal affairs.
It becomes clear that there are two types of people in Madhesh: Madhesi and Ma-desi. Madheshi people can be further dissected in two sub-categories: Madheshi people of Tarai origin and Madheshi people of Pahari (hill) origin. Our representatives like Madhav Nepal, Susil Koirala, K.P. Oli, Prachanda etc. are the representatives of Tarai itself and so are Vijaya Gachhedar, Santa Chaudhari, Rambaran yadav.
However, people like Rajendra Mahato, Upendra Yadav, Anil Kumar Jha are not Madheshi. They are Ma-desi. They openly express their intention of merging Tarai with India. They want Indians get Nepali citizenship as soon as they stand in Nepalese boarder! They want such foreigners reach to the highest posts such as president, Prime Minister, Chief Justice. Most of them have their houses and land in India and some of them have even fought in Indian election.
Nepal government must address the genuine demands of Madhesi people but what about Ma-desi people like Rajendra Mahato, Anil Kumar Jah? Isn’t it a high time for us to separate the wheat from the chaff? Is it not necessary for us to boycott such anti- national forces? Isn’t it our responsibility to unmask them? Shouldn’t we treat them as the new untouchables of twenty-first century?
